I'm setting the over under at 9 shots. And with those odds, and his height and weight advantage, I'll take Roffe for 100. Who is on the undercard?

damn! i would love to go to that but Helen's boyfriend's band is playing that day. and its metal night at slakthuset so i think i will be all musiced out by the time that concert roles around.

i was just building some book review blog when the computer crashed again. i bullied some people and it looks like we are going to get a new processor mostly cause people get tired of discussing with me or they figure this guy is going ot waste a lot of my time so they bail and give in. until we get the comp back (ca. 1 week) we will have to rely on ocassional blog posts, and use the hotmail account for now until i get the comp back. i will be in contact.

just looking at the list of songs and i really have no idea how to go about picking a short list. maybe we take the NFL draft strategy-- pick the top 5 or 6 strengthwise and ignore form or style. My personal top 6 overall (from the list compiled for the novel-album thing), not in order of preference are:

bring me
i hate you
come home joe
spoiled blood
resignation movement

and number 6 is probably no haunting sound, but I have no guitar part, so charles thomson, lazy 5, and i guess we are waiting for remember the alamo.
Style wise we could try to have a collection of 2 part dialogues-- we can kind of look at these songs as opposites--
spoiled blood vs. resignation, come home joe vs. i hate you, bring me vs. ??? but of course this is a stretch. Oh well. no idea.

ouch. ouch. hmm, need to go back to the math. the 50 cent ante killed us anyway-- if you play 1 hand per minute, 60 hands per hour, that is an average loss of 30 bucks an hour, if you play even with the dealer. So an 8 hour session costs you 240 up front (although you will probably hit one of the bonus once, which paid $100-- I did hit the 7 card bonus once... so really it costs you 140 up front-- still a horrible deal).
I just found this table:
Here are the frequencies for the average true count that appears during a 6-deck shoe:

-6 and under 2.43%
-5 1.51
-4 2.38
-3 4.04
-2 6.69
-1 11.56
0 43.05
1 11.32
2 6.48
3 4.03
4 2.37
5 1.51
6 1.49

(I estimated on the zero because they list it by -1/2 to +1/2). So anyway, only 14% of the time will the true count be greater than 1. Very rarely will you bet more than the minimum (an average of once every 10 hands). However, of course on a "hot deck," once the count gets to +6, it will stay there. So we need to be patient and wait for the hot deck, and drop the big bets, and walk away from high negative tables in search of the hot streak. Really all of our other play is meaningless, we are simply looking for a hot shoe.

Ay. I'm gonna lick my wounds and prepare for a Vegas trip-- any casino with an ante is death.
