that sticker would be cool if it was for an elevator but not as cool if it was for a band. It would be cooler yet if was the name of a weapon of mass destruction.

today at work: a energetic argument with a guy (who is in product development but seems to think he owns the place because he is friends with the owner, although his wife, who left him a few weeks ago, seemed less impressed) about how a bonus system should work. after a hour long battle, during which he denied and agreed to almost everything i said at least twice in each language, i returned to do my job, which is making filters, which i had not been doing because i was talking to him. then he came in latter and we began discussing a plan to minimize how much media (filter stuff) we throw away. how we could build a bonus system around that. at the same time filters were crashing down from my machine and falling apart. i wonder if he helped his wife pack.

1. 1 week ago: someone tapes a paper sign above both of the urinals in the department bathroom "PLEASE DO NOT THROW PAPER IN THE URINALS!" It is taped to the wall with about 10 rows of scotch tape.
2. 3 days ago: someone scrawls "Why?" on the paper in pen.
3. Today: paper and tape are crumpled up, sitting in bottom of urinal on right. Sign above left urinal is untouched.

"writing is getting easier and easier. the emails may start pilling up H. i know i promised you that in times past but all that is lacking now is the ability to organize my time. " yeah yeah. easy on the yearbook babble: "god save the queen!!! one should never regret the purchase of a computer. i know you agree rob." hehehe. I like the Hawthorne reference. WAKEFIELD

backwards talking = lifting weights for your brain. I agree. After my first weekend of heavy card counting I returned to work and found myself typing faster than I ever have. I didn't time myself, but I am pretty sure I was a bit faster than I have ever been. What to make of this? It seems we can actually increase the speed at which our neurons fire... and increasing them at one activity (card counting, video games, etc.) carries over to other functions... relating this to Walker Percy, who is obsessed with man as the "language maker" (language is what separates us from animals, and it REALLY separates us)-- Neanderthal man's brain size increased at an unprecedented pace at a certain point (Percy says that this point was the discovery and growth of language). Ok so-- this brings up the question-- how did these bigger brains (more neurons, better neurological processing) get "passed down" genetically? I don't think Darwin's theory accounts for this-- can a better talker survive/reproduce better? Well yes, but probably not significantly better than his/her slightly less verbal peers. So how do these better talkers pass on their bigger brains to their children???

The Kinks eh... need to listen more... I love Muswell, but their earlier rock stuff I don't like that much. I will take the Gourds any day, although the topics of their songs are often on the boring side. No more squirrel talk.

the inspiration is rolling in. i have plans. big plans. involving islands, albums about obscurity, squirrels, drummers, short stories about movies, movies about short stories, nathaniel hawthorne and jorge luis borges. but mostly, the KINKS. there have been none better. you can have all those smart modern bands, i'll take the kinks and ray davies thank you very much!!!

i am wooing a drummer. sent him a copy of YHF today and crooked rain drooked rain by pavement is next. the kinks will follow that. then folk ax. god save the queen!!! one should never regret the purchase of a computer. i know you agree rob.

backwards talking: does it improve anything? Å does not think so. i disagree. like learning another language it gives perspective. you understand what you are saying backwards and forwards. haha. seriously though, its like lifting weights with your brain. twisting and turning things so that you can build language yourself. any form of creation, recreating and reshaping included, can only offer more options and better insight, better reaction time to yuor thoughts. thats my angle man.

this air polution is a-foggin up my eyes!!!!

peace goes out to CAT or PUSS or SOCKS. my you live on in our hearts forever!!
