IT'S THE FEROCITY, STUPID
Ted Rall - Thu May 8, 7:01 PM ET
NEW YORK--Michael S. Dukakis served with honor in the U.S. Army for two years. Three decades later, he was ridiculed for riding in a tank while wearing a helmet and a goofy grin. George W. Bush, a simian-faced draft dodger, hitches a ride to an aircraft carrier decked out in full "Top Gun" regalia and CNN calls dubs him our "warrior president."

"I was able to first snap the radius and then within another few minutes snap the ulna at the wrist and from there, I had the knife out and applied the tourniquet and went to task. It was a process that took about an hour," he said.
Slim and pale with short reddish-brown hair, Ralston made frequent references to prayer and spirituality during his news conference. He said he felt a surge of energy on the fifth day, which happened to be the National Day of Prayer.
"I may never fully understand the spiritual aspects of what I experienced, but I will try," he said. "The source of the power I felt was the thoughts and prayers of many people, most of whom I will never know."

for those of you giving the bible reading insanity a shot this website may be of some use. it has a couple versions of the bible, the best being the king james in my opinion (in english anyway, side note: i learned to write my name in arabic today) it also has the apocrypha, which i think will be some of the most interesting reading. just think we should do some of the basics first. samuel 1 and 2 are pretty cool too.

No way! The book store sounds good to me in many ways (of course I haven't seen it). If I had to bet I think it will be a moderate to a big win, as long as you guys put in the time/money up front to fix up the place. Congrats on getting the opportunity anyway, I think it's a great thing.

white oleander wasn oprah book.big seller when i was working at borders. that and white teeth and the hours and eggers. wierd how i ended up reading or watching those books (in movie form) later. the book store is weird. i have a strange apprehension for it, but i think it will be exciting anyway, win or lose.

Wow, looks like Dave had a blog a thon this weekend.
--Hero??? Never heard of the movie... is that the American title? Matt and I watched WHITE OLEANDER this weekend, it was excellent. Great themes, great acting. The struggle of an artist to break free from the negativity and pessimism associated with an artistic vision. I also saw OWNING MAHONEY, starring phillip seymour hoffman and minnie driver... a canadian banker embezzles 10 mil from the bank he works at so he can play 70K a hand! at blackjack in atlantic city. Cool movie, but the characters were boring.
--Yeah! First day of the bookstore!!! Exciting... let us know how it goes.
--Newton as lukewarm-- Newton was a hardcore scientist, a publishing and researching machine. While you may consider his results lukewarm, clearly his life was spent intensely as a scientist. But perhaps to god he was lukewarm...
--ugh, Old Testament... I wouldn't mind picking a book but you have to weed through a lot of junk to get to anything good. I love the story of Shadrach and Meshach & Nebuchadnezzar.
--Final piece of the gambling puzzle is Texas Hold 'Em. Won some money playing online this weekend, but I still suck.

HERO was awesome!! not sure how many of you saw the movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, but this movie was in this style but MUCH better!! it was incredible. it had so many facets its hard to relate them but the most impressive for me was the theme of sacrifice and principle. hard to describe it, have any of you seen it?
tomorrow is the day for the bookstore. we are meeting the GUY tomorrow morning to look at the place. i am going to start some crazy bookstore and get a bunch of insane people there, reading, arguing, publishing wierd works of literature, then i am going to leave them. remind you of anyone!?
