took $300 last night on the $3-$6 table! A "good" player wins on average 2 big bets ($6 in this case) an hour. I was in the area of 12 big bets an hour! So you can say lady luck was smiling on me. Time to move up to $4-$8.
This was 4 blocks from the apt.:

We saw the smoke rising as we ate dinner, but heard/saw nothing. It even made the front page of the Swedish News!
How bout them Nets?

hmmmm. having trouble. speaking of bankrolls, i need to get mine up. (awww) there are a ton of really good books that cross the pages of the internet and i see a use for each one. hard to pass them up. right now a book of arabic poetry is going by. i could get it for 20-25 bucks (online elsewhere for 50) but there are other ones i would like also. hard to decide which one would be better. one way is that the price goes way out of my range. that just happened. oh well. must learn to play poker. may spend some time at the black jack table tonight

Anyone for a dip? and split the Aces!
From an online Vegas Journal:
Swim up
"The Tropicana's swim-up blackjack tables are open 11 am to 6 pm daily. Limits are $5-$50. Hard Rock and Palms also have tables set up near, but not in, their pools in conjunction with their summer pool parties."

this is my favorite of the three poets i've got in this book. his name is abu al-ala al-ma'arri. cat lived from 973 to 1057. here comes a couple of his:
we laughed; our laughing betrayed scorn.
people on this earth should live in fear
when men shake hands with time, time crushes
them like tumblers; little pieces of glass
and maybe oneof the best poems i have had the good fortune of reading:
some people are like an open grave:
give it the thing you love the most
and then get nothing in return
a man hard done by, yet generous,
is a rock on which a light rain falls;
tufts of moss grows, but flows won't bloom.
tear down every dwelling on earth
each houses creatures who'll destroy
the untamed soul of a good man
hold tight to what is most yourself
dont squander it, dont let your life
be governed by what disturbs you
you're given the fruit of one palm tree:
bear it in a basin of clear water.
dont trouble with the plight of other palms
and one more:
terrorist parsing algorythms dont under
stand poetry, this is an old fact
other wise all true poets would be truth
and one can see easliy
that they are not
so juggle hard and long
and let the words stake their own
and terror its

LET'S GO NETS!
got 4-1 odds on the nets winnin it all (i win $300 if they win). Does Duncan have the killer instinct? Or will Kidd take the next step towards point-guard immortality? Stay tuned...

that second poem was awesome
too bad we are going to be arrested when some crappy terrorist parsing algorithm finds the keyword "Abbas" in this blog

the overtime is over!!!! going to write and record for the remaining time. shoud have a novel or new album or movie script before i get there. the union is not working well. people are sad, dont want to do anything, even the classes take breaks every hour for coffee and smoking. its unreal. people are so lazy. its really hard for some people to understand ideology. dont know how to explain to people that the stuff they are straining themselves to think about runs through my hewad constantly. they dont want to know anyway, that makes two of us.
reading arabic and persian poetry. its fun. they are amazing. some shit i would never think of, metaphors and what not.:
love has tears in my heart, and they
are watered by pent-up rivers
the black-eyed girl who's so demure
and speaks coyly like a high flute
nudged sleep from my head. my liver
turned to fire and i cried with pain
i loved those tears which swamped my eyes
twin pupils drowned beneath a liquid sky
or this one:
when chasing days make me sad,
i dont think about myself;
i'll live as long as i should
it's because time may change you
that i fear sunsets and feel lost
those two are the same guy, abbas ibn al-ahnaf
dont tell any other americans i am reading this shit
